Nagaski Prefecture is on the westernmost side of Kyushu Island, and Unzen stands at he center of Shimabara Peninsula. Azumaen ryokan is located about 2 hrs drive by express bus from Nagasaki Airport. You can also get to Unzen by public bus about 100 min from Nagasaki Station. The hot spring of Unzen is characterized by its sulfurous hot water with high acidity which is uniquely high comparing to hot springs in Europe where the hot spring treatment is actively performed. The temperature of the hot spring of Unzen is as hot as around 90 deg Celcius Azumaen has just 27 Japanese style guest rooms. Each room is carefully designed and decorated and has a spectacular view of Unzen. Azumaen presents exquisite and authentic Japanese cuisine with a spirit of hospitality. The Cuisine at Azumaen is designed using natural, seasonal ingredients. The seafood is caught locally in the Ariake Sea and the vegetables are grown on the Shimabara Peninsula. Hotel uses a great variety of these fresh ingredients in cuisine. The food is exquisite and is served in world-famous Arita ware bowls and dishes. Meals are both a feast for the eyes and a delight to the palate. You can visit "Jigokudani" Hell HOT SPRING where you can enjoy walking around HELL HOT SPRING. Ropeway brings you up to top of mountain where you can contemplate Shimabara Peninsula. You can enjoy the indoor HOT SPRING and also Open-Air-HOT SPRING. And they have also & quot;Relaxation Room" for men and women, where you can relax after bathing. Azumaen has several banquet rooms, meeting room and bar opened in the night. Room type at Azumaen is basically Japaense style, but ryokan has also Japanese style rooms with western beds and special rooms for VIP. View from rooms are fantastic.
