L’Albergo della Regina Isabella is located directly on the seashore, in the midst of a peaceful bay; it is located in the township of Lacco Ameno in Ischia, the largest Neapolitan island in the Gulf of Naples. The Hotel was built in the 1950’s by Angelo Rizzoli, illustrious publisher and film director. In 1956 he decided to enlarge historic Regina Isabella’s thermal baths and build a resort over the ancient Greek - Roman ruins. Celebrities such as Richard Burton, Liz Taylor, Maria Callas, Alberto Sordi and William Holden enlivened those popular years making it one of the most exclusive and glamorous destinations. In more recent years, representatives of the entertainment and business industry, as well as politicians and intellectuals gravitate around the hotel attracted by the prestigious cultural events that are organized in Ischia. The island’s mild climate and the naturalistic environment are reasons to spend some time here in any season of the year. “L’albergo della Regina Isabella” has 4 swimming pools, 2 outdoor and 2 indoor. The first outdoor pool contains purified seawater and is surrounded by a solarium. The other is filled with thermal water or heated seawater and is the ideal pool for “thalasso” therapy (sea-water based therapy). One indoor pool contains thermal-water for regenerating baths and the second, known as the “Risveglio dei Sensi” pool is filled with thermal-water used for various therapeutic treatments such as music-therapy, chrome-therapy and aromatherapy. Two docks, equipped with lounge-chairs and sun umbrellas allow guests to have easy access to the sea. The Hotel offers its guests the possibility to choose between 3 restaurants in which to dine with magnificent sea views. The Regina Isabella, for dinner, offers traditional, creative dishes specializing in fresh seafood. The Sporting, offers fresh fish for lunch as well as typical Neapolitan buffet and dietetic dishes. The gourmet restaurant Indaco can satisfy the most demanding tastes, with traditional Mediterranean dishes wisely revised. The Regina Isabella Bar is a cosy sophisticated place to enjoy moments of great pleasure and relaxation while Bar Sporting offers a charming meeting point with cafe service and snacks or even a romantic cocktail at sunset. The Thermal Baths are the ideal place to enjoy the benefits of a great Spa. The “Terme della Regina Isabella” offer a variety of treatments that take advantage of the qualities of multi-active thermal water and mud baths as well as the beneficial effects of various massage treatments, specific programs, diets and active or passive exercise routines. The Spa offers thermal plastic (anti-aging) dermatological treatments. These are true miracles of eternal youth that use the benefits of thermal waters to produce a longer lasting effect in the prevention of skin aging and other skin problems.
