Stayokay Hostel Scheemda is an affordable hotel housed within an 18th century manor house. The hotel is reachable via the main road that runs through the town of Scheemda, in the northernmost part of The Netherlands, 34 km. east of Groningen. After a long day of travel, relax in the hotel’s TV room, where you can get to know fellow travelers. If you’re looking for facilities to hold a meeting or special celebration, the hotel offers an event room for such occasions. And you'll rest easy knowing that your bike is safe in the hotel’s on-site bicycle storage facilities—if you didn’t bring a bike and would like to get out and explore the area, you can rent one from the hotel. The property has a Restaurant also serving vegetarian dishes, a bar, wine cellar and outside tables. Facilities also include wireless Internet access (subject to charges). The reception is open from 8 a.m. until midnight. When you want to go for a ride, set out into the lovely countryside past farms and pastures. When you’re ready for a little city life, travel to Groningen and wander through its museums, in particular the Groningen Museum, which features modern architecture and contemporary art. Toward the end of the day, have some fun enjoying the city’s lively nightlife.
