Shali Lodge claims to be one of the few highly regarded restaurants in Siwa. On the terrace, shaded by date-palms that even sprout through the floor, or in the den downstairs, strewn with cushions and warmed on crisp nights by a wood-burning fire, savor a date omelet or lamb casserole, a stuffed pigeon or steaming bowl of vegetarian tajin, each flavored with fresh herbs of the oasis.
