A most comfortable, centrally located, Grade II listed Victorian town house. This popular bed and breakfast establishment is situated within a quiet conservation area in the historic City of Carlisle and just a 14 mile of the 'West Coast' main line railway station and just a 5 minute walk to the city centre where you will find an abundance of restaurants, bars and shops. This character building is some 157 years old, Cornerways retains many of its original Victorian features including a decorative 'Minton' tiled hallway and cast-iron balustrade to the stairway. All of our rooms are tastefully decorated to the standard that you would expect of guest accommodation awarded 4 Stars under the 'Enjoy England' quality assurance scheme, recommended by 'The Lonely Planet' and 'Lets Go!' travellers guides. Cornerways is an ideal base for exploring the historic City of Carlisle with its mix of the old and the new, we are conveniently located for the Castle, the Cathedral, Tullie House Museum, Cumbria University and the Sands Centre. Venture beyond the city walls and the Lake District National Park, Hadrians Wall, the Eden Valley, the Solway Firth and the Scottish Borders lie close by, all are within a 20 minute car drive from us, local and national bus services arrive and depart from the bus station just 450 yards from Cornerways. Newcastle airport is 59 miles away. For a relaxed pace why not buy a ticket for the famous Trans-Pennine Carlisle to Settle Railway which runs through some of the most spectacular scenery the UK has to offer or perhaps a day trip to Edinburgh or Glasgow which are a little over an hour away by train, Carlisle train station is just a 6 minute walk away from Cornerways. We have private parking available or alternatively free on street parking, motorcyclists and cyclists alike are most welcome, we can offer overnight outdoor storage for both motorcycles and bicycles, nearby cycle routes include Coast to Coast, Reivers, Hadrian's Wall cycle path and Lands End to John O'Groats route, which run through Carlisle, we are listed with CTC. We are also listed with the Ramblers Association, the Hadrians Wall heritage Coast-to-Coast trail is situated just a few hundred yards from us, Hadrian's Wall Country bus service, the AD122 picks up nearby.
