This charming old posting house dates back to the 14th century and these days attracts a diverse crowd of guests, including country lovers, horse racing fans, motor racers, golfers and young couples. The Queen sought shelter here during a blizzard in 1981. Those who enjoy a bit of spooky history might like to know that the cellars were once used to house convicted criminals, sentenced to death by 'Bloody' Judge Jeffreys. The hotel is non-smoking throughout. It is fully air-conditioned and comprises a total of 21 guest rooms.
