The hotel 81 Joo Chiat is located near the Malay heritage site of Geylang Serai, which is just a mere 10 minutes walk away where guests could experience the facets of the Malay culture. Authentic Malay cuisine is on the offer at the many F & B establishments in the Geylang Serai area. It takes 10-minute to drive to the old residential district of Katong which is famous for its old world charm and famous Perankan cuisine. For guests who prefer the beaches and parks, East Coast Parkway is just 10 minutes drive away. Operated by the largest budget hotel chain in Singapore, this 4 storey, 81 room hotel opened its doors in 1995. The hotel which was restored from a conserved building with distinct pre-2nd world war architectural is fully air-conditioned and offers comfortable and clean accommodation for the budget minded traveller. The hotel has a 24-hour reception, laundry service (at a fee) and parking facilities. Although there is no internet access at the hotel, there is an internet cafe just 2 doors away from the hotel. The 81 rooms, including triple and family rooms, feature individually adjustable air conditioning, an attached bathroom with shower and heater, and basic amenities such as a TV, direct dial telephone, coffee/tea making facilities and hairdryer in all rooms. The Superior and Twin rooms offer either two single beds or one queen sized. Rooms with window, non-smoking rooms are subject to request and availability. As there is only 1 disable room in the hotel, it is also subject to request and availability. There is no restaurant onsite but guests could easily find food at Geylang Serai, Katong and East Coast Parkway which is also famous for its seafood restaurants with sea view and they are all within 10 minutes either to walk or by car. The hotel has a 24-hour reception counter and also a simple/basic business centre. Although the hotel does not have a car park, guests could always park their vehicle at the open car park just opposite the hotel (with a fee).
