Opened in 2002, this air-conditioned city hotel affords a modern design with an exclusive use of glass ensuring natural light is taken full advantage of. Terrific views of the town, the island and the sea are also to be enjoyed. The interiors predominantly feature light colours and above all make good use of natural materials such as wood and marble. On offer are a total of 154 rooms, of which 2 are junior suites, spread across 6 floors. Amongst the hotel's facilities count a foyer with 24-hour reception, a safe, a cafe, a bar and a lift. The facilities also include a TV room, a restaurant, a dining room, a conference room, public Internet access, room service and laundry services (the last three of which incur an added fee). Use of a car park and garage is also available as well as the bicycle hire service. American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and VISA are all accepted in the hotel. Guests may serve themselves from the buffets at lunch and dinner. At lunchtimes there is an a la carte menu on offer. Special dietary requirements may be catered for. Guests may book either a half-board or full board stay. All the en suite rooms come equipped with the finest items, shower gel, shampoo, a direct dial telephone, satellite TV, in-room movies, a radio and an Internet connection. Further in-room facilities include a minibar, a double or king-size bed, carpeting, individually regulated air conditioning and heating as well as a hire safe and a minibar. The highest quality materials are used to ensure guests feel right at home here. Even the windows are as wide as the room. Wheelchair accessible rooms may also be booked. This hotel is well situated close to the historical centre of Ponta Delgada and enjoys easy access to the main streets, which lead to the airports and allow for easy exploration of the island. The tourist centre, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops are a 5-minute drive away. Exit the airport along the highway to Ponta Delgada. Take exit no. 5 to Ponta Delgada - Sao Goncalo. Turn right at the crossroads and go straight to the roundabout. Take the third exit and go straight along the avenue. Holiday Inn Azores is located 400 metres on your right.
