In the heart of the Boyne Valley, family-run Headfort Arms Hotel boasts an excellent restaurant and relaxing spa rooms. Dublin city centre is 1 hour away. Headfort Arms offers spacious, beautifully furnished rooms, all with contemporary en suite facilities. Features include a plasma-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Dine in the Vanilla Pod restaurant, with a menu of local, organic produce. The Kelltic Bar is a cosy Irish pub with a vibrant atmosphere. The inviting lounge has an open log fire. The excellent staff are friendly and welcoming. There are frequent express buses to Dublin and Donegal. Kells is situated on the N3, the trunk road from Dublin to Donegal. An officially listed heritage town, it is a great destination in its own right. Kells is also a good base for exploring the Boyne Valley, with all its historical associations. As well as the site of Battle of the Boyne (1690), there are the passage graves of Knowth, Dowth and Newgrange to be visited. Alternatively, it is an excellent place for a break when travelling to / from the airport (one hour) or the ferry ports of Dublin and Dun Laoghaire (90 minutes). There are frequent express buses to Dublin and Donegal. Also within easy reach (45 minutes) are good sandy beaches, if you fancy a day at the sea after all the historical tourism. There is also a racecourse at Navan and numerous golf courses within an easy drive, as well as Headfort Golf, Kells' own superb championship course. The Headfort Arms Hotel is situated in the historical town of Kells in County Meath. It is thirty-nine miles from Dublin, on the main road to Derry.
