This is a true hill-walker’s paradise. The Twelve Bens stretch across our front lawn, looking out over the rugged bays and white-sand beaches of the Atlantic. Beyond the Mweelrea Mountains that guard the entrance to Killary Harbour lies the distant peak of Croagh Patrick in Co. Mayo. Only 10 minutes north of Clifden Town, 5 minutes from the Connemara National Park, and 15 minutes west of Kylemore Abbey, Ben Breen House rests in the heart of some of the most breath-taking scenery in West Connemara, perhaps even in all Ireland. We offer 6 very clean and modern en-suite bedrooms (half with bathtubs), delicious full Irish (or lighter) breakfasts, and can provide an early breakfast or a packed lunch if you wish. Our sitting room with its stunning mountain views and open fireplace is the perfect place to curl up with a book or settle in for a chat. There’s also a large garden that is ideal for children to play in. We have local Connemara maps and can suggest beautiful beach or hill walks that you probably won’t find in a guide book—but be warned, many of our guests who come for 1 night end up staying for 3! From the windows of each of our 6 spacious en-suite bedrooms, your nearest visible neighbours are the Twelve Pin (Beanna Beola) Mountains—including Ben Breen—Lake Garraunbawn, and the crystal blue waters of Ballinakill Harbour. If you can tear yourself away from the window, you’ll notice that your room is modern, clean and warm, has TV, a powerful shower and a tea & coffee station. Our beds are comfortable and large, with most rooms accommodating up to 5. We also have an infant’s cot, should you need it. We’re a good 300 metres off the N59, ensuring a very peaceful night’s sleep. The quiet Connemara sky at night, without city lights, can inspire awe, amazement, and incredible dreams… Tea, coffee and homebaking will be available to you on arrival.
