The Bankes Arms is nestled in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck in the beautiful village of Corfe Castle. The area has World Heritage status because of the breathtaking Jurassic Coastline and is a magnet for families, ramblers and walking groups alike. It is also the perfect short-stay couples' retreat for those keen to explore the glorious coast and countryside of Dorset. Situated between the quaint Georgian market town of Wareham and the sea-side resort of Swanage it is easily accessible by car or train from London and beyond. For families there is sea-crabbing and the sandy bathing beach in Swanage; Rock pooling and surfing in Kimmeridge; fossil hunting and boat hire at Lulworth Cove; horse riding and swimming in Studland. There is a beautiful Norman castle to explore, trips on the steam train and of course over 95 miles of coastal pathways right on the doorstep. Let us pack you a picnic and simply go off exploring on one of our courtesy bicycles and enjoy the Enid Blyton countryside. There are four golf courses within a five-mile radius, sport fishing, artist workshops, a stone-carving centre, local jazz and beer festivals and so much more. The Bankes Arms is a real gourmet's delight; we pride ourselves on sourcing fresh regional produce, which we cook simply, with a delicious Mediterranean twist. Our breakfast is organic with produce from local farms and just in case you are still hungry there is always our mouth-watering cream tea!
